About York Nurseries

Claire York and Heather Langridge own and run York Nurseries in Burnley.

Claire is a Montessori Teacher and has been working in childcare for 20 years, having recently become a Mum and completed her Certificate Level 6 in Professional Practice in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. In her busy schedule Claire also undertakes NVQ Assessing for Nelson and Colne College who work closely with the setting to train new Nursery Practitioners.

Heather has a BA Honours (First Class) in Early Years Childcare and Education and has also recently achieved the Early Years Professional Status which is a requirement for all Day Nurseries within the next 5 years. Heather works closely with Blackburn College with students on various childcare courses up to BA Honours level.

Claire and Heather are the nominated and registered persons for Ofsted who recently inspected the setting awarding us a GOOD grade overall.

Louise Doherty – Manager

Louise also has her Certificate Level 6 in Professional Practice in Children’s Care, Learning and Development and is about to embark upon motherhood for the first time.

Amanda Horsfall – Assistant Manager Andrea Harrison – Assistant Manager

Amanda and Andrea both have their NVQ Level 4 in Childcare Learning and Development, which makes the Management Team at York Nurseries one of the best qualified and trained in the area.

The room staff are all trained or training to NVQ Level 2, 3 and Level 4, in addition to their compulsory First Aid, Allergy Awareness and Food Safety in Catering awards. Our maintenance and ancillary staff Sean, Bobby and Deborah ensure that all our other needs are met.
